GIS and Attractiveness Seminar, Malta

It seems that the GIS technology (Geomatics Information System) is not very well developed in Malta. However, its potential is significant, having in consideration the fact that we are living in a world of technological development and smart phones! 4th Steering Committee meeting in Czech Republik, July 2013

24 - 26 July 2013
The Geomatic seminar and the dissemination event took place at the Hop Research Institute in Žatec, Usti Region, Czech Republic on July 25th, 2013. The organizers made use of the
opportunity, when partners of the GRISI PLUS project from other European regions were on the study visit in the Usti Region, to invite them to the seminar and the dissemination event to make 3 presentations about good practices, proved in their regions. Participants of the dissemination event, e.g. mayors, officers of the Regional Office of Usti Region, representatives of NGOs, had a rare opportunity to ask questions directly to people from regions, who presented their good practices.

4th study visit in Czech Republic, July 2013

During the event, also some Czech projects working with geomatic tools were presented. The participants of the event were informed about the creation of the action plan to support transmission of some of good practices to the Usti Region and asked to help with the identification of the most suitable good practice or practices for the transmission.

GRISI PLUS presented at the National Rural Tourism Fair Albac in Romania

7th and 8th of September 2013
RDA Centru has successfully participated with a GRISI PLUS presentation stand at the National Rural Turism Fair on the 7th and 8th of September. The Fair was attended by more than 2000 visitors. For this event we have prepared and distributed several promotional items (personalized with the GRISI PLUS visual identity).

GRISI PLUS presented at Geomatics event in the fair Polis at Thessaloniki, Greece

22nd of November 2013

The seminar of project GRISI+ was organized by ‘TIEE-SI’ on 22 November 2013, in the framework of the ‘Polis’ pan-hellenic expo (at the premises of the International Expo of Thessaloniki).

Thirty persons in total were present, coming from municipalities, private companies involved with Geographic Information Systems, young farmers and citizens.

Dissemination event in Latvia, organized by VPR

28th of November 2013
On 28th of November 2013 Vidzeme Planning Region’s Grisi PLUS team organized seminar named Attractiveness of space – one of the top issues in every municipality” to local municipality specialists about attractiveness of space. One of the topics discussed in seminar was site marketing, which includes availability of services and infrastructure as well as communication. According to lecturer, last one mentioned can be considered as the most important because sometimes story well told is more attractive than one paved street.

GRISI PLUS successfully presented at the 18th Baltic Geospatial Conference in Latvia by LPS

5th of December 2013

Information about GRISI PLUS project was successfully disseminated during the 18th Baltic Geospatial Conference on 5th of December 2013. Project expert J.Kaminskis gave presentation on GRISI Plus and also the banner of project during the presentation time was displayed. The conference this year was held in Riga. Participants were from Baltic States, Poland, Norway, Sweden, England, USA and from other member states of NATO. The Conference was attended by representatives from military and civilian cartographic institutions, ministries and universities. The total number of participants was approximately – 60 persons.

Grisi Plus Network Seminar in Clifden (Ireland), March 2014

On March 6th 2014, the West Regional Authority in conjunction with Galway County Council organised a Seminar entitled “Maximising the Potential of Walking and Cycling Infrastructure in Touristic Areas”.  The main goal of this Seminar was to introduce the participants of the goals, objectives and benefits of the Grisi Plus Project and learn about some Good Practices from other EU partner regions which might be beneficial to the West of Ireland..

Dissemination seminar “Place Attractiveness through Communication” , Riga, Latvia

21st March 2014

On March 21st 2014, GRISI PLUS project dissemination seminar “Place Attractiveness through Communication” was held in Riga. This dissemination seminar gathered more than 90 participants from municipalities. We organised this seminar for Public Relation Specialists from municipalities. Participants had opportunity to hear about GRISI Plus project, place attractiveness, branding and how it is connected with place development and also could now something more about crucial role of communication.

The GRISI PLUS final conference “Using Geomatics for a More Attractive Countryside” held on 9th October 2014 in Moravske Toplice, Slovenia was a fantastic gathering of creative people working on practical solutions. The GRISI Plus final conference provided a challenging, yet enriching opportunity to share knowledge with a European audience. With 130 viewers from 8 countries, 100 participants and 23 representatives of municipalities, ministries and other political bodies, policy makers are starting to see the importance of the use of geographical information and Geomatics to improve the attractiveness of rural areas.
